A new pill called, Zytaze is meant to prolong the effects of Botox for up to 30 per cent, as well as make the effects of Botox work faster.
According to the Daily Mail more than one million people in the UK use Botox injections to smooth the appearance of wrinkles and stop more from appearing, unfortunately it only lasts for 3 months. So the new pills will prove to be popular if they can actually extend this time.
The pill contains high levels of zinc with an enzyme called phytase, which assists the body in absorbing zinc. Zinc is a natural healer so would make Botox work faster.
The pill is already being targeted at Botox users, the pack contains ten pills, and costs a lot more than a normal pack of zinc tablets, in which you can get one hundred tablets for a cheaper price.
The UK brand Eden Aesthetics claim that the Zytaze tablets only work and other tablets do not have the same effect of reducing the use of Botox as Zytaze does.
The pill has been tested and published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology; results found that 92 per cent of patients taking the tablet found that the effects of Botox lasted a lot longer and encouraged the Botox treatment to work quicker. Industry specialists in cosmetic surgery thought the results were positive but more research needed to be carried out to give more evidence.
Patients are told to take two tablets a day for four days before having Botox then on the day of the jab. Kevin Hancock, a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Council stated, "We do know that zinc is crucial in helping injured patients to recover, for example burns victims, so it's fundamental in repairing tissue…But the pill is just a vitamin supplement and it may be that lots of people are just slightly zinc-deficient anyway."
Zytaze is a dietary supplement so there is no need for a prescription, however it is advised that you should not take more than 50mg a day of zinc as it can affect your immune system.
