How to Make Jewelry Using Sterling Silver

    • 1). Plan your beading design before buying your beads. Experiment with several arrangements and designs before deciding on a final design.

    • 2). Determine the finished length desired for a bracelet or necklace. Add three inches to this length and cut the beading wire to this length with the wire cutters.

    • 3). Choose and purchase sterling silver beads, clasps, spacers, jump rings, and crimp beads. You can either create your jewelry with only sterling silver or you can add color and variation by incorporating glass or crystal beads.

    • 4). Place a crimp bead onto the end of the beading wire and thread the beading wire through one half of the sterling silver clasp. Pass the end of the beading wire back through the crimp bead and pull the wire taut. Crimp the crimp bead with the crimping pliers and trim the excess end of the beading wire at the crimp bead.

    • 5). Thread the sterling silver beads, the spacer beads, and the glass or crystal beads (if using) onto the beading wire according to the beading design planned in step 1. Thread the beads until about 1.5 inches are left of the beading wire.

    • 6). Add a crimp bead and thread the beading wire through the other half of the sterling silver clasp. Pass the end of the beading wire back through the crimp bead and pull the wire taut along the entire length of the beading wire. Crimp the crimp bead with the crimping pliers and trim the excess end of the beading wire at the crimp bead.
