Talking About Yeast Infections in Men

Yeast infections are commonly looked at as something that only affects women, but men beware-you can get them too-and it's not pretty! The notion that these types of infections only happen in women may have to do something with the media and the many numbers of adverts for cures and treatments.
This has also led to many believing that yeast infections only occur in the vagina so imagine the horror of those men who awake one morning to find their penis red and sore and oh-so itchy! Alert: You do NOT need a vagina to get an infection! Yeast infections in men ARE possible in many areas of their bodies! These infections occur because of an overgrowth of Candida albicans-something that we all have in our bodies.
Although normally healthy, this fungus can turn to mold from if the conditions are just right and cause a yeast overgrowth in anyone regardless of sex or age.
They can also occur anywhere on the body from the skin to the mouth.
When it comes to the symptoms of Candida in men, the symptoms vary slightly depending on location, but we'll get to the nitty-gritty and discuss the type that would be of most concern to men; the penis infection.
This type of infection in men can cause no symptoms at all in an otherwise healthy guy, but some signs that are still a possibility, include: a yellow to white discharge, pain after intercourse and the end of the penis may become inflamed with redness and white patches.
