Richard Humpty Vission - Big Floor Funk

About.com Rating

Hard-pounding in your face big room house music; this CD is crammed with happy, banging, party house music. There are over 45 tracks on this 59-minute disc! Talk about fast. Richard Vission has also won a DanceStar award for "Best Radio DJ," and as host of the longest-running mix show in the US, he has done remixes for the likes of Madonna, Destiny's Child, Nelly Furtado, Filter and Felix da Housecat.

He has been nominated for a grammy in the "Remixer of the Year" category for his mix of Madonna's "Music." This installment in his mixtape series is nothing but invigorating. He has chocked up over 500,000 soundscan units which is almost unheard of by a dance act, much let a DJ mixtape series.

In addition to running the radio show "Powertools" on Los Angeles Power 106, RHV was also the DJ on the MTV hit show The Blame Game. Starting with house parties and moving into clubs and eventually onto the radio, Richard Humpty Vission is one of the most prolific DJ/producers in the US.

This is a CD filled with all things house and showcases his talents well. The tracklist includes DJ Flex, Antione Clamaran, The Jungle Brothers, Benny Benassi, Planet Funk, Crystal Method, Joey Beltram, DJ Dan, and Smooth & J just to name a few. Laying down the remixes is Clamaran, Erick Morillio, and RHV himself. Some highlight tracks of this CD are "Boom Shaka" by Andre Basho, "I'll House You," a classic by the Jungle Brothers, "3 a.m" by M.I.S.T versus High Contrast (with a drum & bass feel), RHV comes in with a gang of tracks "I Said," "Sexy," "Freaks," and remixes Andrea Doria's "Bucci Bag."

Another funkin' groover is the Planet Funk song "Who Said (Stuck in the UK)." This track has a great angry female vocal and that Planet Funk bass that drives 'em wild. Also, as an added bonus, this CD includes the video for his newest single "Never Let Me Down." This CD is so jam-packed with action that is hard to isolate one good section from another. The style of mixing is reminiscent of Jeff Mills techno, but with house tracks.

If you are planning on lounging around the crib, do not put this CD in the player. Richard Humpty Vission is a pioneering face in US dance music and with good reason. Any dancer who has not heard the sounds of RHV needs this disc in their collection. Richard Humpty Vission bringing the funk, hard and fast.
