Respect Your Inner Self
For any Idea, Dream & Thought, to have a chance to become a reality you must first understand who you are and respect the inner self that gives rise to those ideas, dreams and thoughts. Listening to author Susan Cain's TED Talk I felt very much represented. I understand the difficult task it becomes for us, as individuals, fighting this constant battle to reassert ourselves and our individuality.
Cain talks about introversion. How these boys and girls, men and women, grow up trying to fix themselves to fit into society's molds. Cain talks about how the boundaries between the introvert and extrovert aspects of our personalities are many times blurred or may even develop over time.
Simply put, I believe life throws stuff at us and we adapt, our characters strengthen or weaken, but our personalities remain much the same. We need to embrace the personality we were given. We need to empower ourselves and others to see and appreciate the elements that are the foundations of their unique self. Only then we'll stop trying to conform and mold ourselves into what's expected from us, and have the courage to explore more deeply the intricacies of the Self, the World and the best way to move around it. We'll find as well our place and purpose. From there we will see a clearer picture of what we want and what we wish to accomplish. Armed with the tools of self-awareness, ideas, dreams and thoughts will flow through us and we'll be uniquely ours. In a process to challenge and battle your inner self you may become your worst enemy, hindering your own success by wasting time that needs to be spent in self-discovery.
There must come a time in which we stop looking out and start looking in. There must come a time to meet our self and find within the person that we always wanted to be.
