How to Make a Modeling Portfolio
- 1). Set up some shoots with modeling photographers. It's important to have meetings with them ahead of time and look at their books to make sure they're not headshot photographers but actually modeling/fashion photographers. Get some new looks done and have prints made.
- 2). Collect all your tearsheets from previous jobs. If you have copies of the actual magazines it's best to just tear the pages out, hence the term "tearsheets." If you don't have the magazines locate some old copies and purchase them if you can. If they are unavailable for purchase then make some high quality color copies of the pages.
- 3). Find your most recent couple of zed cards. You'll need two of each so you can display the front and back of each. If you have headshots as well or more than one zed card for different types of modeling work then get out all of them.
- 4). Purchase a large portfolio book that has thick, solid pages with clear view flaps. On the computer create a single sheet of paper that lists your name, height, weight, agent and manager as well as your sizes. Print this on an interesting paper (preferably something colored and thicker, like cardstock).
- 5). Place your most recent zed card that has a headshot on the front on the front page under the plastic view screen sheet. On the next page place your typed up information on the left and the other side of your zed card on the right. Continue to place photos in the sheets. Mix up the times if they span over a couple years as well as your different looks and styles. Put page protectors on the corners of the pages if the portfolio album doesn't already have them. That's it! You just made your portfolio.
