- 1). You can create a scented garden all together in one garden bed, or scatter scented plants around a wider area. You can even grow a scented garden in pots. Wherever you choose to plant your scented plants, dig in plenty of compost before planting.
- 2). Shop for your plants at nurseries and seed catalogs. It’s faster to begin with young plants that you can purchase at nurseries, but starting plants from seed gives you more selection and variety. Whichever way you start, we’ll talk about planting young plants.
- 3). Dig holes that are slightly larger than the root mass of the plants.
- 4). Insert each plant into its hole, spaced according to the instructions given for that plant.
- 5). Backfill the holes with the soil you dug out in step 3, then gently tap the soil around the base of each plant.
- 6). Water thoroughly and keep moist according to the type of plant.
