How to Sketch & Draw a Building
- 1). Sketch the frame of the building. Next, sketch any windows and doors of the building. The two most important aspects of the sketch include the accuracy of window and door placement, and correct proportions.
- 2). Draw the building from the base up, pressing your pencil firmly on the paper and over the previously sketched lines to create the structure of the building. Applying pressure on the paper with the pencil makes it easier to draw straight lines.
- 3). Add the windows and doors of the building. Draw any curved parts of the windows and doors before adding straight lines. It's easier to draw windows and doors by using curved lines as a cue to drawing straight lines than the other way around.
- 4). Tidy up your drawing by using your eraser to remove all traces of your earlier sketch. Though the drawing will cover a lot of what you previously sketched, there will still be parts of the sketch that will be visible, and you need to remove these.
- 5). Add details, such as brickwork, tiles and guttering.
- 6). Shade in the building, beginning with the areas that surround any windows and doors. Finally, shade in the windows and doors to complete your drawing. Pay careful attention to how the light reflects off the glass of the windows.
