Concrete Paving BC to Revolutionise Infrastructures

In 1889, an innovation in pavements by an American engineer George W. Bartholomew came into existence. In 1891, Americas first concrete pavements were laid, an 8 foot wide pavement forming the main street of Ohio city. Generally this work was carried out by wagons, horses, go-carts, etc. for carrying the sand and other materials to the sites. Today, America is most widely known for its huge buildings, airports, highways, streets, etc., which are the landmarks of a country to the outer world. How much a country is developed is highly rated by its infrastructure. With the increase in population and traffic every year, Concrete paving BC is the best answer to these emerging questions.

There are many advantages of these type of pavements as compared to asphalt pavements. They are highly durable i.e. they last for a longer period of time and require very minimum maintenance. They create a smoother riding experience, and are less dangerous as compared to others of its grade. Concrete as it imposes lesser stress on the automobile and they shine or reflect at night which is another advantage to the driver, thus reducing the need for street lights and saving some dollars also.

Concrete gains strength with the passage of time, i.e. it gets better with the passage of time. They provide better grip. They are generally used beyond expectancy. They require less maintenance and are easier to repair. They can be built in a matter of 12 hours and can be opened for general traffic thus proving to be less time consuming and more efficient. Restoration of worn out concrete increases its life. According to studies conducted, due to the smoother movements of the wheel, concrete pavements are fuel efficient also, hence energy saving. These concrete are environment friendly and can be again recycled to build a new road thus reducing its cost.

With the globalization of the marketing world and the need to find an easier way, there were many technical developments in the field of pavements thereby reducing cost, increasing durability, and making the ride faster.
Structural Concrete is also widely used for building structures and monuments. The world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa is an astonishing example of how concrete can be used to make such a marvellous structure.

With the passage of time and newly discovered techniques of construction, concrete is a widely used product. Transportation of concrete is also easy as its plant can be set up within 100km range of the construction site thus increasing the efficiency of the whole project. Structural concrete can be divided into two groups - lightweight and normal weight.

Nowadays, lightweight concrete is more used as compared to other thus reducing the dead weight of the whole structure and increasing its strength at the foundation thus increasing its durability. With the revolution of the construction industry everywhere in the world, concrete structures have gained popularity and are in high demand because of being highly cost efficient, easier to work with, energy efficient, renewable and easily recyclable, durability has driven the world of construction by storm.
