How to Mount a Car Roof Carrier

    • 1). Prepare the crossbars by spacing them as instructed by the product specification guide for your cargo carrier, typically at least 23 5/8 inches.

    • 2). Lift the cargo box onto the crossbars with the help of another person. Center the carrier on the crossbars.

    • 3). Open the hood and trunk to check for clearance. The hood and trunk must be capable of fully opening without any abrasion to the cargo carrier. Push the cargo carrier as close to the opened truck as possible -- without them touching -- to limit wind drag.

    • 4). Position the reinforcing plate in between the cargo carrier and the crossbars, directly beneath the carriers predrilled mounting holes.

    • 5). Position the quick release bars beneath each reinforcing place between the roof of the car and the crossbars.

    • 6). Slide two mounting bolts through the quick release bars, reinforcing the bars and the carrier's predrilled mounting holes.

    • 7). Fit the interior five hole brackets over the screws. Double-check the position of the carrier to verify it hasn't been compromised. Make readjustments if necessary.

    • 8). Fasten the threaded knobs onto each screw on the inside of the carrier. Tighten the knobs as much as possible with your hand. Push on the cargo carrier from all angles to ensure its security, making adjustments and tightening knobs wherever necessary.
