The Fun of Decorating a Bedroom
Whether you're in the mood to redecorate or you absolutely have to in order to get the funk out of a room, decorating can either be fun or a total hassle.
My favorite way to redo a bedroom is to first look at bedding sets.
I think it's easier to decorate the room around the bedding instead of trying to find bedding in the right color with a pattern I like.
Seems to be easier to pick the bedding first.
First I would dig through the JC Penney catalog, because they always have an interesting selection, then I would scout websites like Amazon and Kohls to see what they had.
Often times between these 3 I would find something I really like.
To pick paint colors I have to hold the bedding in hand first.
It's impossible to guess at the true colors from a computer screen because all monitors are different and you can't be sure what you're getting.
Once I'm holding it I either take a small pillow to the paint store for comparisons of samples (if it came as a full set with pillows, etc), or I would gather a bunch of samples and bring them home to compare.
Sometimes its hard to find the perfect color, but as long as I'm in the right family it usually works out ok.
I either pick the main color in the fabric or a complementary color as an accent.
By getting a full set of bedding instead of just a comforter it's easier to ensure that everything I have will match instead of ending up with really off color schemes in the end.
I'm not the worlds best decorator so any advantage I can get really helps.
