How to Utilize Empty Jars
- 1). Clean your empty jars thoroughly to remove any food residue. Do this as soon as they are empty so that the remaining food product is easily washed out. Also wash the lid, should you decide to use the lid as well.
- 2). Soak the empty jar in hot water to remove the label. You may have to soak the jar in hot water several times to get the entire label off.
- 3). Wash the jar and lid again. You can also put them in the dishwasher to get them clean.
- 4). Use your empty jars for storage purposes, such as in your workshop to store nails, nuts, bolts and screws. The clear glass allows you to see just what you need in an instant.
- 5). Use your empty jars in the kitchen. Consider using them as drinking glasses. Try them to store grease, that you can dispose of later, once the grease has cooled off. Use an empty jar and lid to combine ingredients--simply add what you need in the jar, cover tightly and shake. Or, store herbs and spices in them.
- 6). Use empty jars as vases. Smaller glass jars with a flower or two in them make a complete arrangement. Larger jars can hold a small bouquet.
- 7). Fill a large jar with sand to make a door stop. You may also have a few large old canning jars around that you would be able to utilize as well.
