Themed weddings are not only creative, but fun to plan and attend as well. Themes help a couple to infuse their wedding celebration with their own interests and personalities in a way that is sometimes whimsical and sometimes quirky, but always memorable. You can put together a themed wedding that will enhance the romantic atmosphere of your celebration. - Wear a sweeping ball gown to feel more like a princess bride.wedding gown image by sparkia from Fotolia.com
Send out invitations to a princess wedding that will remind wedding guests of a royal decree. Buy a plain invitation kit at a store like Wal Mart or Michael's and customize the invitations with a font similar to old-fashioned calligraphy. Embellish the invitations with clip art images of glass slippers, magic wands, or famous fairytale scenes, such as Sleeping Beauty being kissed awake, and print them in a soft, feminine color. Roll the invitations like scrolls, tie them with a thin piece of ribbon, and place them in tube-like containers---like those sold at many post offices---to mail.
To incorporate this theme into other aspects of the wedding, choose floral arrangements in soft pink or white colors, wear clear high heels and a wedding dress in the style of a ball gown, and ask the ring bearer to carry the rings inside of a clear or glass high heel on a pillow. Rent a long, thin piece of red carpeting from a costume shop or theatre company to use as an aisle runner and sprinkle reception tables with "fairy" glitter. - Incorporate the magic of the night sky into your wedding with a star theme.stars image by Empath from Fotolia.com
If possible, choose a wedding date that corresponds with a full moon so you have the best chance of enjoying a sky full of stars to go along with your wedding theme. Print invitations to this evening wedding on midnight blue paper. Choose gold lettering and a small star border to enhance the invitations, and as a finishing touch, sprinkle star-shaped confetti inside the invitation envelopes.
To incorporate this theme into other aspects of the wedding, use star-shaped balloons as decoration, white paper stars to adorn the aisle in place of flower petals, and star-shaped candle holders for reception tables or the unity taper candles. Rent a photo booth where guests can pretend to be "stars" and have silly photos taken as a wedding keepsake. - Use hearts, the popular symbol for love, as a romantic wedding theme.Heart to heart illustration image by Fenia from Fotolia.com
Make invitations that resemble handmade heart valentines using heavy red paper and white markers or print more formal invitations with clip art images of candy conversation hearts scattered in the blank spaces. Print reply cards with hearts next to lines where guests need to fill in information, such as their names or how many will be attending the wedding. Seal reply card and invitation envelopes with heart-shaped stickers as a fun finishing touch.
To incorporate this theme into other aspects of the wedding, sprinkle paper hearts or heart-shaped confetti on the aisle. Hang paper hearts from the ceiling, and use paper hearts for guests' placecards. Ask the DJ to play only songs at the reception with the word "heart" in the title.
