Tamron 90mm Macro Review - Excellent Lens For Both Macro and Portraits Photography
This will be a special Tamron 90mm Macro review for cropped sensor DSLR camera. The Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro happens to have a very special place in my heart because it is my very first Tamron lens.
Until then I had only used Nikon and Canon lenses, but this one completely stole my heart and ended my skepticism about third party lenses.
I was not initially impressed with the plastic build at first. It's not rugged enough and I don't think it will survive in extreme weather conditions such as Antartica.
However, the plastic build turns out to be an advantage. It makes the lens extremely light and portable for many photography purposes.
You definitely should not bring this lens to your Antartica trip or to the humid condition of South Africa. Take good care of this lens and it will do you wonders.
After using the lens for quite a bit, I found the lens more than makes up for its build by producing great photos of both portraits and macros. I tried this lens on a variety of subjects and have obtained great results overall.
As expected, when I did the technical Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro review, the results turns out excellent. The images are razor sharp. There is no visible distortion, vignetting, or chromatic aberration.
Moreover, the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro has a robust autofocus system - it's very smooth to operate and reasonably fast. Besides, you can also use a polarizing filter on this ring due to its non-rotating front element.
The Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro also features a focus clutch mechanism that will allow you to switch from auto to manual focus quite easily.
You should utilize the focus limiter feature when you are not shooting macro so the lens does not have to go through the full autofocus cycle to acquire focus.
Another advantage is that this lens can be used with both cropped sensor and full frame sensor cameras. This too is a definite advantage in its favor. You would not have to worry about buying another lens if you ever plan to switch to a full frame format.
I would recommend this lens for everyone interested in Macro photography, but unwilling to break the bank to get a great lens. If you are not planning to shoot in extreme weather, this is definitely the best lens to get.
