Followed By Josh the Ghost
This story took place about 10 years ago in Tamarac, Florida. I was in the 6th or 7th grade, and a few of my friends and I had began to discover that we each had certain capabilities: I saw premonitions that, once deciphered, were usually accurate; my friend Jan could see and communicate with spirits; and my friend Lauren was the most powerful and had multiple gifts. My friend Jan usually communicated with this one ghost named Josh, so much so that Josh was with her all the time -- kind of like an invisible friend, but real.
I never believed Jan, but I will never forget this day. After leaving my friends for the evening, I went home to eat dinner. We all lived in the same neighborhood, so it was a short walk, but I felt as though I was being followed. I shrugged it off, arrived home and my day carried on as usual, but I couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. As I was getting ready for bed, this feeling intensified and I felt very unsettled.
As I lay in bed staring at the wall and waiting for sleep, I felt the mattress shift behind my back. It felt like something had climbed into bed with me. Now at this point I was extremely freaked out, but I convinced myself I had just imagined it as I was in between sleep and complete consciousness when it happened.
The next morning the whole thing seemed like a dream, but I still felt I was being watched. Every morning I would curl my hair with a curling iron. I would turn it on before going to the bathroom, so by the time I was done brushing my teeth it would be hot.
This morning I was so frazzled I completely forgot. Half way through brushing my teeth, I ran back to my room to turn it on... and to my surprise it was already out, plugged in, and on. For a second I thought maybe my cousin, whom I shared a room with, had done it, but she was still asleep in bed. I didn't spend too much time trying to figure it out because I had to catch the bus, so I just assumed I had done it absentmindedly and forgotten.
When I arrived at the bus stop, Jan was there and she looked right behind me and said, "Where have you been?" I asked her who she was talking to and she explained that Josh had followed me home last night. Then she related the entire night to me, things that were said at dinner, what I watched on TV, etc. Then she said that Josh was sorry for making me share my bed and tried to make up for it by helping me get ready for school that morning. I was completely flabbergasted, to say the least. After that Josh made himself known to all of us, playing pranks but often protecting us. Eventually I moved away, and I don't know whatever happened to him.
