Hyundai Starex Specs
- The Hyundai Starex is a minivan produced by Hyundai for the Asian, Oceanic and European markets. It received positive reviews for its power and general driving experience, while the only negative point was its sheer size, which poses a problem in places like Indonesia and Malaysia, where traffic congestion is very high.
- The Hyundai Starex seats a minimum of seven people and a maximum of 12 (depending on the model). The "short" model is 15 feet long while the "long" model is 16 feet long; both are marginally under 6 feet wide, while heights are between 6 feet and 6 1/2 feet. Wheelbases range between 9 and 12 feet.
- Depending on the model, the Hyundai Starex's engine displacement is between 2.3 and 2.6 liters, compressing at a ratio between 8.6-to-1 to 22-to-1. The pistons on all the models are around 3 inches in diameter and 4 inches long.
The weakest engine produces 103 horsepower while the most powerful can produce 140 horsepower. Both of these are reached at 3,800 rpm, although there is one model that achieves130 at the higher rpm of 5,500. - The turning circle on the Hyundai Starex is 18 feet in radius, which an Autoworld reviewer found adequate. The front brakes are disc brakes while the rear brakes are drum brakes, and the suspension is a double wishbone on all of the models' front wheels. The rear wheels, however, are split between a five-link coil spring and a solid axle, depending on the model.
