The Nissan Z cars are a series of sports car manufactured by Nissan. The first model was introduced in 1969 in Japan and was called the Nissan Fairlady. Since then, the Z car has been popular for its looks, reliability, performance, and affordability, holding the record for most sports cars sold at over 2 million, as of October 2010. Several changes were introduced to both the body style and the engine in 1983. - The 1983 Nissan 280ZX had its engine in the front of the car with all models containing rear-wheel drive. The body and chassis were made of a steel unibody construction and the engine block was cast iron. The original retail price for the car was $14,800, and it weighed 2,875 lb.
- The 280ZX went from zero to 60 mph in 9.7 seconds. In addition, its time to complete the quarter-mile distance was 17.2 seconds and its top speed was rated at 124 mph, according to ConceptCarz.
- The Nissan 280ZX carried a model L28 engine that had six cylinders. The engine was capable of producing 145 horsepower at 5,200 rpm. In addition, it could create 145 ft.-lb. of torque at 4,000 rpm.
