The Best Sparkling Water Makers
Fiuggi
In a sparkling water tasting that included 25 different brands, Washingtonian found Fiuggi to be the top of the pack. While more expensive than other sparkling waters, the Italian brand produces a glass-bottled oligomineral water drawn from the springs of the Rome region of Italy. Rumors indicate that this water is the choice of the Vatican. It's also said to help break up kidney stones.
San Pelligrino
A more common and less expensive Italian sparkling water, San Pelligrino was among the best buys determined by Washingtonian. The natural mineral water comes from springs located at the foot of the Dolomite Mountains. In North America, the water is distributed by Nestle Waters North America.
Dobra Voda
Dobra Voda mineral water took home the gold medal in the 2010 Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting in the sparkling water category. Bottled in the Czech Republic, it's lightly mineralized, containing a percentage of minerals that it believes offer ample mineralization without overloading the system. The water is enriched with Vitamin C to help boost the body's immune system.
Mountain Valley
Mountain Valley Sparkling Water took home the silver medal at the 2011 Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting. The water is sourced from an Arkansas spring used since 1871. It contains minerals like calcium carbonate, iron and manganese. The 2011 silver medal was not the first time the brand was awarded; Mountain Valley took home a gold medal at the 2003 Berkeley tastings for its non-carbonated water.
