How Do You Fold Napkins?
- 1). Choose square napkins for your table setting. Pick a color, fabric, imprint or design that matches or goes well with your tablecloth.
- 2). Spray light starch on your napkins and iron them to get rid of any creases. Starch will also make thin, floppy napkins hold your folds better.
- 3). Place an open, square-shaped napkin, face down, in front of you.
- 4). Fold the upper left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner and rotate the napkin so you are now looking at a triangle. The open end of the napkin should be facing away from you.
- 5). Take the right hand corner of your triangle-shaped napkin and fold it to meet the top highest point. Fold the left hand corner in the same fashion. Your napkin should now resemble a diamond.
- 6). Turn the napkin over and fold it in half by bringing the upper point toward the bottom point.
- 7). Turn the napkin over one more time. Your napkin should still resemble an upside down triangle and the open side should be closest to you.
- 8). Make a fold along the center seam and bend the left and right points backwards so your napkin stands up and resembles a pyramid. Place your napkin in the center of the dinner plate.
- 1). Spray a square napkin with starch and iron it to prepare it for folding.
- 2). Lay the napkin in front of your and fold it in half by bringing the top right and left corners to the bottom right and left corners.
- 3). Make accordion-style folds starting at the right side of the napkin. Work your way toward the left side but stop three inches short.
- 4). Turn your napkin over and fold it in half lengthwise. The fan part of your napkin should be on the outside and you should face the part of the napkin that doesn't have the accordion-style folds.
- 5). Take the upper corners of the unfolded part of the napkin and make a diagonal fold to tuck them under the accordion-style folds. This is your napkin stand.
- 6). Open up the accordion-style folds to make your fan and place the napkin in the center of the dinner plate.
