Mac WMA to MP3 Conversion
- Since WMA files are not compatible with Macs, there are not a lot of converter programs for Macs that support WMA files. And most programs, like Switch Pro and EasyWMA, can do the WMA-to-MP3 conversion on a Mac, but you have to pay for the programs. Fortunately, there is one program that is free to use that can do the WMA-to-MP3 conversion on a Mac. Switch Audio Converter for Mac OS X can do the WMA-to-MP3 conversion. This is a free program, but be warned that there is also a Pro version of this program that does cost. You do not need to Pro version to do your conversion. Visit the NCH software website (see Resources below) to download the free version of Switch Audio Converter for Mac OS X and install it to your Mac.
- Once you have installed Switch Audio Converter for Mac OS X on your computer, open up the program. Click on the "Add Files" button from the toolbar. This is how you will select the WMA files that you want to convert. You can select multiple files for conversion at the same time. Once you have selected all of the WMA files that you want to convert, look to the bottom of the screen where the "Output Format" field is located. Use the drop-down menu to select MP3 as your output file type. You will also see a field above it that is labeled as "Output Folder." You can click on the "Browse" button by this field to select a folder on your Mac that you want the new MP3 files to be saved to when they are created. Or if you just want the MP3 files to be saved in the same location as the WMA files, you can put a check mark in the box by "Output to same folder as source files." Click the "Convert" button to begin the conversion process for your WMA files. Once the conversion is complete, you will get a pop-up message on your screen letting you know that all files have been converted to MP3s.
