The term "summer camp" no longer describes woodsy locales with teenage counselors and organized kickball games. Alongside traditional camps, there are growing numbers of innovative summer programs with credentialed, professional staff that specialize in nurturing a child's passion for technology, music, science or sports. Parents can choose among Virginia's diverse selection of daytime summer camps and transform their child's hobby into an unforgettable experience. - Run from June to August by the Browne Academy in Alexandria, Browne Summer Camp offers programs for ages 3 to 13. Browne Camp combines traditional summer activities like sports, swimming, and arts and crafts with cleverly themed sessions, such as "Roaming the Rainforest" and "The Land Before Time."
Pre-school campers have the option to attend half-days, and extended day schedules are available to all campers. Browne also offers additional programs, including After Camp Excursions (ACE) and Summer Studies.
