What Jobs Are Available With a Degree in Business?

    Retail

    • There are many opportunities in the retail field from firms like Lowe's in the home improvement business, Best Buy in the electronics field, Verizon in the telecommunications arena, Nordstrom in the fashion business. Unless you're working in the back office or at the company's headquarters, most of the jobs will entail a lot of face-to-face customer interactions. In the retail sector, be prepared for working evening and weekend hours regularly.

    High Technology

    • High technology jobs abound nationwide in this fast-growing industry. From Silicon Valley outside of San Francisco, to major high-tech cites like Austin, TX, Boston and Raleigh-Durham, NC, virtually every major company has a need for business majors in sales, management and marketing. Whether it's Google, Facebook, IBM, Cisco, Apple or the hundreds of other companies in this industry, growth is ongoing and so is the need for talented business graduates.

    Global Consulting

    • There are many types and sizes of consulting firms nationwide. Two of the largest and best-known global firms are Accenture and McKinsey and Company. The advantage to these types of firms is the quality of training and mentoring you'll receive. You may also have a choice of work locations around the globe, even as a new hire. Once you progress in the firm, the opportunities globally will also grow.

    Commercial Real Estate

    • Commercial real estate firms in all cites are searching for motivated and entrepreneurial individuals who have a desire to market and sell office space, industrial sites, retail space, raw land and investment opportunities. In local communities, smaller firms will have a tendency to have a specific niche and have more of a need for experienced people. Larger firms like Grubb & Ellis look for both experience in real estate and new hires with a business degree or business background.
