Fuel Tax Software – IFTA Tax Reporting Procedures

International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA), between United States of America and Canada has laid down certain procedures, which are required to be followed by every licensee. IFTA fuel tax software is the most effective device for actively carrying out all the tax reporting procedures, in-accordance with the IFTA guidelines. As per the IFTA ‘Articles of Agreement', every licensee shall have to file tax returns with its base jurisdiction for the prescribed tax reporting period, and shall have to pay all the due taxes by the due date. IFTA fuel tax software is specifically designed to carry out all the tax calculations, which are required to be filed in the tax reporting period.

IFTA tax reporting period can be quarterly or annually, according to the eligibility or permission granted to a licensee. A licensee should gather this information as per the amendments made under section R930 of the ‘Articles of Agreement'. All licensees can file the tax returns using standard tax return form. A licensee may be authorized by its base jurisdiction to submit a written or computer generated document of tax return; provided these documents contain all the requisite information, in accordance with the IFTA guidelines and in acceptance with the base jurisdiction. Fuel tax software contains special features to provide easy tax calculations and it also preserves the required information needed for the tax reporting purpose. Using IFTA fuel tax reporting software a licensee may easily handle all the irksome processes related with the reporting procedures of this agreement.

Along with the tax returns, a licensee may also be required to submit documents like refund papers, payment of taxes made to the base jurisdiction, other specific records related to the tax returns etc; as all such records are needed to be maintained by the base jurisdiction, in compliance with the IFTA rules and regulations. Fuel tax software maintains and preserves all such records and thus saves a lot of valuable time. IFTA fuel tax reporting software also maintains the record of taxable and non-taxable fuels and also the records of amount of different types of fuels like gasoline, CNG, LNG, propane, ethanol etc, which are generally being filled in the qualified motor vehicles. As per the standard tax return guidelines of this agreement, a licensee shall also have to furnish certain important information, at the time of tax reporting. This information includes elements like total distance traveled by the qualified motor vehicle during the tax reporting period and the total number of gallons or liters of motor fuel used by the licensee while operating the aforesaid vehicle etc; along with some more essential information. Manually maintaining such type of information is a highly tedious task, whereas IFTA fuel tax software easily preserves all such information.

IFTA fuel tax reporting software is not just a technological device, but it has become a very essential requirement for all the licensees, which come under the jurisdiction of IFTA member states. This sophisticated technology enables a licensee to efficiently manage almost all the aspects related to the IFTA tax reporting procedures. Fuel tax software is truly a remarkable technology which deals with all the intricacies involved with the IFTA tax filing procedures.
