The 1970s was an era of simplicity and individuality. Drink choices ranged from fruity soda to flavorful cocktails and everything in between. Drink choices were varied and included both non-alcoholic favorites for the entire family and adult beverages for the cocktail crowd. There were, however, a few favorites often found next to the simmering fondue pot and tea sandwiches. - This favorite was not only a popular choice for afternoon affairs, but a great gift-giving idea. The original recipe found on Tang containers included a mix of the orange-flavored drink, instant tea, cinnamon and clove. The drink is enjoyed either hot or cold and a large batch can be kept in a jar to be used as needed.
- The Harvey Wallbanger has an interesting history and widely changes depending on the source of the story. The creator ranges from surfer to renowned mixologist, but the recipe stays the same. The drink's three ingredients, vodka, orange juice and Galliano, were commonly found in most homes in the 70s. The simplicity of this drink made it a popular choice for the cocktail parties and fondue affairs of the decade.
- Kahlua is a liquor often associated with the seventies that still has quite a following today. White Russians are a mix of Kahlua, vodka and milk and were a choice drink for those who enjoyed a sweeter excursion into cocktails. Much like the Harvey Wallbanger, the White Russian called for ingredients found in most homes during the 70s and required little knowledge of bar tending. Its dessert-like qualities also made it a good choice for after dinner drinking.
- Cola drinks have never seemed to wane in popularity, and in 1963, Tab made it even easier for the health conscious to enjoy a sip or two. It was Coca-Cola's first trek into sugar-free products and by the 1970s it was quite popular with the fitness conscious decade. Even with the invention of Diet Coke, Tab has held its own remaining strong with a loyal fan base.
