How to Winterize a Pineapple Plant

    • 1). Cover the soil surrounding the pineapple plant with a 2- to 3-inch layer of mulch in the fall. The mulch insulates the soil from cold temperatures.

    • 2). Place a frost blanket over the plant when temperatures drop below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Cool temperatures and frost cause damage to the pineapple foliage and cause developing fruit to rot.

    • 3). Bring potted pineapples indoors if temperatures drop below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the plants in a sunny window. Set the plant back outside once temperatures rise above 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
