An Ounce Of Passion Is Worth A Lifetime Of Technique

I believe if you have no passion - either for a presentation or your job - you are wasting your time.
Whether you call it passion, fire in the belly, energy or enthusiasm, that's what people remember, not your flawless data.
Consider this.
As a young man I had a science teacher who knew his subject inside and out.
Yet, he was so boring and colorless I just could not connect with the subject.
Did he change my world? Yes, but not for the better.
I had to take the class twice! Contrast that to Dr.
Carl Sagan, who you may remember from the PBS series, Nova.
His obvious passion for the subject of science set me afire to learn more about the mysteries of the universe.
Both men had the same topic, but only one brought it to life for me and made me want to learn more.
His passion made the difference.
Ty - you're probably asking - how can I get passionate about the same budget presentation I've given a hundred times, or for the job I've done for the past 10 years? If you can't get work up some passion for what you do eight to 10 hours every day, it's time for a change.
If you are bored, you're boring.
Now, I know that you have to pay the bills, so you might not be able to give up the job today.
You have two other choices: find your passion or feed your passion.
What is it you love to do? Figure it out and do it, either as a hobby or through some volunteer activity.
You'll find that the passion spills over into other areas of your life.
If you aren't ready to change your circumstances, either with a new job, hobby or volunteer work, then change your attitude.
Tired of making the same sales pitch day after day.
Change your approach.
Let's say you sell cars.
Instead of pushing cars, how about helping someone find the car that works for her circumstances and her budget? Remember, the world's most powerful message delivered without energy, without passion, will fall unheard while the message delivered with passion can change the world.
So, get some passion and change the world.
