How to Hide a Home Theater Subwoofer

    • 1). Hide the subwoofer under or behind furniture. Place the subwoofer behind or under a couch, love seat, or table to conceal it from sight. Or place it in a corner to hide it.

    • 2). Install the subwoofer in the ceiling. Situate the subwoofer in the attic. Cut out a small portion of the ceiling using a saw. Point the subwoofer down and conceal it behind an air register grate or integrate it into the ceiling by surrounding it with plaster. Secure the register to the ceiling using appropriate fastening screws designed to work with your particular type of ceiling.

    • 3). Put the subwoofer in the floor. Homes with a crawl space or basement can mount the subwoofer along the floor joists. Cut a hole matching the size of the subwooofer speaker in the floor with a jigsaw or reciprocating saw. Fasten the subwoofer to the floor joists with straps. Exchange the speaker grill with an HVAC grate register to make it appear like an air conditioning return vent.

    • 4). Place the subwoofer in the wall or behind a false wall. Cut out a portion of a wall using a reciprocating saw and insert the subwoofer there. Place the subwoofer on a wood or plastic platform and conceal with a return vent grate. Screw or caulk the vent grate to the wall. Alternatively, build a false wall with drywall boards to store all of the home theater equipment behind along with the subwoofer.
