Outdoor Weddings Ideas

    Tent

    • Even if your wedding destination gets very little rain or the days are always mild, a back up option is always good to have. Not only does a tent protect for harsh natural elements like rain, wind, sun and bugs, but it can also create the perfect ambiance for your wedding day celebrations.

Consider purchasing flooring, especially if the location is on grass that has the potential to get muddy. Shoe heels and chairs that sink into the grass can be messy looking. Walls can be purchased (usually at additional cost) and also protect guests from the elements. You can opt for a wall with plastic, cathedral-style windows to let in light.

    Decor

    • Chances are you won't have much to do when it comes to decorating an outdoor wedding. Don't detract from that gorgeous beach scene or never-ending view of wispy, swaying wheat. Instead, work with what you have. In the end, the most efficient and inexpensive option when it comes to outdoor decor is to let nature do most of the work for you.

With that said, there are certain decorative elements you can bring into play that will accentuate your surroundings. For example, a tulle aisle created at any outdoor wedding makes an elegant and bold statement, as does a canopy or arch decorated with flowers, ivy or wheat.

Lighting is also an important decorative aspect to consider. After all, lighting can set the exact tone you're going for. For informal weddings, consider tiki torches to light pathways and the dance floor. Stringed lights lend themselves to romantic weddings, as do luminaria and candles. Another lighting option is Asian paper lanterns, a growing trend that creates a stunning, sophisticated looking venue.

    Attire

    • Make sure you choose appropriate attire for your outdoor wedding. If it's going to be chilly, let your guests know that shawls or jackets are in order and choose attire for the wedding party that allows them to remain warm. For example, a crisp, white, faux-fur jacket looks stunning when paired with a crimson dress at winter weddings.

Also think about the length of the wedding dress and shoes for all outdoor weddings. Sandy terrain does not pair well with stiletto heels, and no bride should drag a heavy train around the Earth's soil for long periods of time. If a traditional dress is the preferred option, make sure to have it altered so you can get it bustled.
