Baseball Theme Party Ideas

    Invitations & Decorations

Start the party off by sending out awesome invitations in the shape of the classic baseball diamond. Maybe instead of a paper invitation, you give each invited guest a baseball, with the party location, date and time written on it. Since the theme is baseball galore, why not make it a World Series Baseball party? As each guest is invited, tell them which two teams your child chose to be represented at their party. It could be their favorite team and their real-life rival. Along with their invitation, you can have bumper stickers made with each child's last name on it, so they can stick them on the back of their shirt. They can then choose which jersey and baseball caps to wear to represent their "team".

For decorations, go all out. If the party is outside, have it on a baseball field! The only thing you would need to do there is set up areas for games, food and drink. If inside, you can hold the party in a large location like a gymnasium, or rent a hall. You can buy a baseball backdrop to display on the walls at many party supply stores. Also, make sure you decorate in green, black, white, and of course the colors of the "home team".

    Food & Beverage

    • This should be the easy part. All food at the party should be classic game-day food. Have freshly grilled or even steamed hot dogs, hamburgers, and all toppings. Set up concession snack areas with fresh popcorn, hot peanuts, and a huge tub of bubblegum. The drink stations could be huge buckets filled with ice and only cans of soda. Make sure you have some adult beverages, like beer, if adults are invited as well.

The cake can be a replica of the baseball diamond, and you can place a figurine of your little leaguer in the center throwing out a pitch.

    Party Games and Favors

Of course if the party is outside, the kids can play a real 9 innings of baseball. Cut it to 4 or 5 innings if there are lots of kids. Divide them into teams depending on which jersey they decided to wear, and let them play ball!

You can play a pitching and catching game, where the kids are in teams of two. With every caught pitch, the catcher has to move back a foot. When the last pitcher/catcher team is standing without any dropped catches, they win! You can have a home-run relay to see who can run all bases the fastest before sliding into home base.

You really have some great options for party favors. You can give out sports water bottles, or personalized t-shirts from the party. To keep it simple yet within theme, give out goody bags filled with bubblegum, peanuts, and crackerjacks.
