How to Make an Organized Collage in Photoshop 5.5 Using Different Pictures
- 1). Open Photoshop 5.5, click "File" and select "New." Type "collage" into the "Name" box and set your preferred collage dimensions. A standard page of printer paper, for example, is 8.5-by-11 inches. Click the "OK" button, and the Photoshop workspace will open.
- 2). Click the "File" menu again and select "Open." Navigate to a folder on your computer or area where you have saved collage pictures. Photoshop supports multi-select, so press and hold down the keyboard's "Ctrl" key, click once on each photo to use for the collage and click the "Open" button. The photos will all tile into the Photoshop workspace. To open more photos from different locations on the computer, repeat the "File" and "Open" process until all images are on the Photoshop screen.
- 3). Press and hold down the "Ctrl" key, click on a photo to give it focus and drag and drop it onto the "Collage" white box. Drag the image into place, such as in the top left corner. Close that photo's instance from the Photoshop workspace so you know you've already added it to the collage.
- 4). Press and hold down the "Ctrl" key, click another photo and repeat the drag-and-drop process. Resize any photo by clicking the "Edit" menu, selecting "Transform," clicking "Scale" and shrinking the picture into place. Continue until you've added all the pictures to the "Collage" box.
- 5). Click the "Move" tool, which looks like a black arrowhead on the "Tools" palette, and drag the pictures to create the collage, such as overlapping some edges. Be sure not to have any pictures overlapping the "Collage" box dimensions into the gray area of the Photoshop workspace or they'll be cut off.
- 6). Click the small lines icon at the top of the "Layers" palette and select "Flatten Image." If you don't see the "Layers" palette on the right side of the screen, click "Window" and click "Layers" to open it.
- 7). Click the "File" menu, click "Save As" and save the collage to the computer.
