Pub Quiz for Landlords – Getting the Most Out of your Trivia Quizzes
Great your pub is going to start a weekly pub quiz, you as the landlord see this as a money making opportunity. The advertising's done, quiz questions and answers are there and you've got one of the best quiz masters in the area. So you can sit back and watch the cash pour over the counter. Right? Very wrong or a least you are missing a trick or two at the very least. A quiz night is an opportunity for you to sell and create better foundations for your pub. Here's some options on what opportunities you should be trying to sell on the night.
There's just four ways you can advertise or get more from just the pub quiz without taking away the focus.
Other event nights. What better way to get people listening than to start your events with your sales pitch. Make sure that you advertise your pub quiz before any other events start. If you have an experienced quiz master then give them the pitch before hand and discuss where it should go. Don't over do it and keep it quick and simple so as not to remove focus on the event. Maybe if a very special performer like a quality band is coming in then why not offer anyone participating in the quiz a discount for booking tickets in advance.
Discount drinks and food. Let your customer have something cheaper on the actual pub quiz trying to entice them to come in 45minutes before for cheap food and a drink. What about offering free soft drinks for the driver if a certain amount of normal drinks are bought. Little tip for a quiz night or any other night for that matter reduce the menu offered. The last thing you want is the kitchen rushing to make 30 completely different meals 10mins before it starts.
Pitching your Menu's. If you have Sunday lunches for example each week an ideal place to get the message to potential customers is before the pub quiz as an announcement. Curry nights can also be announced. It's free and one of the best ways of advertising your food. You can also give prizes out and discounts if customers eat at your pub.
Free nibbles. Why not give your pub quiz teams a selection of crisps, peanuts or bar snacks. They all contain salt and make people thirsty. It gives you opportunities of selling more drink on the night. Whilst I don't completely agree with this it does work and is common to find pub snacks within big chains. In fact Why not spice them up as well Bombay mix certainly will get a thirst on.
