Custom Steel, Corian and Rimless Toilets - 2011 Is Shaping Up to Be a Year for Modern Bathrooms
A number of innovations have emerged in the bathrooms sector this year as well as the continued development of emerging companies trading on new opportunities.
One of the latter is Componendo Sas.
They specialise in custom stainless steel fittings for kitchens and Bathrooms.
They were established in 1999 after Componendo's owners saw a business opportunity in the manufacture of custom-made stainless steel furniture.
They quickly became known for their high quality manufacturing, after initially trading in the kitchen component sector.
Very quickly they added market-leading companies to their portfolio and they later opened a new factory in Fabriano to cope with demand.
This rapid growth is thought to be because of their unique design proposition, not only are custom moulded stainless steel fittings difficult to come by, but Componendo also offer Corian, glass and wood combinations in some retro looking shades of rosewood, light oak and walnut.
When combined, their collections make for an almost retro/modern look in some cases, as oxymoronic as that may seem.
All of their hand-crafted steel creations come in a glossy 'anti-touch' finish that prevents finger prints from appearing on the surface.
Overall, these installations add modern pizazz and character and look to become a reference brand for architects and designers alike.
The innovation doesn't stop at new modern bathroom designs however, Twyford, the leading brand in bathroom suites and showers, have re-engineered their healthcare offerings for use in the home.
They have created the first, widely available rimless toilet in the UK.
Although that may not sound terribly exciting, it is truly an innovation to behold.
The lack of a rim makes cleaning much easier and adds simple lines that coordinate well with all modern and minimalist bathrooms.
Twyford have also reduced water wastage by making more efficient use of it with clever design features that angle the water precisely to induce particular levels of force around the entire bowl.
Since its launch at the 100% Design show, it has taken the custom bathrooms world by storm.
What's more, Bathroom designers Roman have created a frameless hinged shower door, that helps open up space and light to keep up with the demand for bathrooms that offer a spa-like finish.
David Osborne, Managing Director of Roman, states that bathroom trends are leaning towards luxury, spa-like facilities and that the industry needs to keep up; "The bathroom has now become a key area in the home and no longer is it being overlooked" he adds.
The modern bathroom trend looks set to continue.
With Spa influences bringing luxury back into the household bathroom and materials such as Corian finding ever more uses and applications, the bathroom has become a designer playground.
DuPont worked in partnership with Disney's TRON brand to create futuristic home settings using Corian and other innovative interior design materials to show off what can really be achieved: http://www2.
