How to Make a Battery with Quarters

    • 1). Mix some vinegar and a little salt in a bowl. Vinegar is acetic acid and all acids can be used as an electrolyte. Sulfuric acid is in car batteries, and can eat threw clothing and burn skin- unlike vinegar, which you put on your salad.

    • 2). Cut ten circles the size of a quarter in the bloating paper and soak them in the bowl of vinegar and salt.

    • 3). Cut ten more circles the same size as the blotting paper circles in the foil. With masking tape, attach the end of one wire to the underneath of a foil disk. What you just made is the negative terminal. Now you need to stack the blotting paper circles, the foil disks, and the quarters in this order-foil, paper, coin, foil, paper, coin. Each combination of these three parts is one tiny battery itself, but even for a small LED light you need quite a few.

    • 4). When you have a stack, you can attach a wire to the last coin with tape and one side of the wire to the other side of the battery. Now you can light your LED light by holding the middle of the wire to the medal part of the LED light.
