How to Oil Cleanse a Face
- 1). First, create a blend of oil suited to your complexion. Castor oil is the component which draws out the impurities and oils from your skin and so the greasier your skin the higher the percentage of castor oil you will want in the blend. The highest ratio of castor oil you probably want to go with is around thirty percent castor oil; the lowest ratio is around ten percent. If your skin is drying out too much when you cleanse it, reduce the amount of castor oil. The second oil (such as olive oil) is used as a carrier for the castor oil and to dilute the castor oil so that it isn’t so heavy.
- 2). Pour a liberal quantity of your custom blend into the palm of your hand. Rub the oil between your hands. And apply to your face. Use your fingertips to massage it deep into your skin. Concentrate your efforts on the greasiest parts of your face. Do not rush through the massage step; it is essential that the oil be worked deep into your pores, where it will bond with your natural oils and any impurities that have worked into your skin.
- 3). Wet your washcloth in warm water. Make sure that the water is warm enough to steam but not so hot that it burns. Cold water will be ineffective. Wring the excess water from the cloth and drape it over your face. Leave the cloth on your face until it is cool. The steam and heat will open up your pores and draw the oil out along with any impurities that have bonded to the oil. Use the cloth to gently wipe away the oil, and then rinse the cloth in warm water and repeat several times.
