How do I Troubleshoot the Ignition on a Yamaha Warrior?
- 1). Use the Warrior's starter. If the engine will not turn over, then there is likely a problem with the electrical system that is preventing the ignition from getting power. Start by checking the quad's main fuse.
- 2). Locate the Warrior's fuse case, situated below the quad's fender. Remove the main fuse with a pair of pliers.
- 3). Inspect the connection at the center of the fuse. If this connection is broken, then the fuse has blown. Replace it with a new 15-amp fuse.
- 4). Inspect the battery next. Access the battery case by removing the Warrior's seat bolts and seat.
- 5). Disconnect the negative (-) lead. Then disconnect positive (+) one. Remove the battery from its case.
- 6). Clean the battery terminals using baking soda and water if they are dirty.
- 7). Replace the battery if it is damaged. The Yamaha Warrior takes a 12 volt, 12 ampere-hour battery.

- 3). Examine the spark plug's insulator tip. If it is cracked or burnt, it is likely damage. Replace it with another NGK DR8EA plug.
- 4). Measure the spark plug gap using a wire thickness gauge. This gap should measure between 0.02 and 0.03 inches for the Yamaha Warrior.
- 5). Shorten the spark plug gap if it is too wide by pressing the hook-end of the plug against a firm, flat surface.
- 6). Use a spark plug gap tool to pull the hook-end wider as needed.
- 7). Reinstall the spark plug and plug cap.
