How to Build a Map with Google Maps

    • 1). Navigate to the Google Maps website (see Resources) and log in using your Google account.

    • 2). Click the "My Maps" link in the left pane.

    • 3). Click "Create New Map" to begin making your new map.

    • 4). Type a title and description for your map, then select whether you wish to make it public or unlisted.

    • 5). Click "Save" to save a draft of your map. Your map will also automatically save from time to time as you work on it.

    • 6). Use the navigation controls in the right pane to move and zoom in on the location you would like to map. You can also click and drag with your mouse and zoom in and out with your mouse wheel.

    • 7). Use the tool buttons in the top left corner to create place marks, shapes and lines on your map as needed.

    • 8). Click the "Done" button once you have finished editing your map.
