Just like everything else, music is cyclical. Genres that were popular a generation ago resurface, sometimes with a new twist and sometimes just like it used to be. There seems to be a real resurgence of thrash metal lately, which for fans of classic Bay Area thrash is really cool.
Fueled By Fire's debut album could easily have been released twenty years ago. Spread The Fire is vintage old school thrash played fast and loose.
The shredding riffs and blazing guitars are the centerpiece of the band's sound, which is appropriate. The vocals are clean, but with a rough edge and sometimes not exactly on pitch.
There's absolutely nothing new here, but Fueled By Fire has the energy and catchy riffs to make it a compelling enough listen, especially for fans of groups like Exodus.
