How to Make iPod Apps Using Vista

    • 1). Install the most recent version of iTunes onto your computer. Nevigate your browser to the iTunes website (see link in Resources section), and click "Download."

    • 2). "Jailbreak" your iPod device by downloading Blackra1n software onto your computer. Navigate your browser to the Blackra1n website (see link in References section), then click the Windows icon to activate the download. The website will prompt you when the download is complete.

    • 3). Reboot your computer.

    • 4). Connect your iPod to your computer with a USB cord, and launch the Blackra1n software now installed on your hard drive. Click "Make it Ra1n." Your iPod is now in "Recovery Mode."; do not disrupt this process. Blackra1n will take several minutes to strip your iPod and reinstall the software that will enable you to program the device with Windows Vista. When the jailbreak is complete, your iPod will reboot automatically.

    • 5). Install Microsoft Visual C++ software onto your computer. Navigate your browser to the Microsoft Visual website (see link in Resources section), and click "Visual Studio 2010 Express." Click "Free Download." In the pop-up box that appears, click "save file." From the downloaded files location on your computer, launch the Visual Studio ".exe" file.

    • 6). Install DragonFireSDK software onto your computer. Navigate your browser to the DragonFireSDK website (see link in Resources section), and click "Get It Now." Click the version of DragonFireSDK that best suits your app developer requires (either the basic "Starter Kit" or the more feature-loaded "DragoFireSDK Ultimate"). Follow the payment, sign up and download steps as instructed until you see a prompt that installation of the software is complete (this will take a few minutes).

    • 7). Reboot your computer, and launch the DragonFireSDK installed software. As prompted by the instructions included with the downloaded software, proceed to develop your iPod app.
