Pizzaria Carioca da Gema Overview :

Pizzaria Carioca da Gema, in Rio de Janeiro, is a spin-off which complements to perfection the next-door bar which preceded it: Carioca da Gema, one of Lapa's best live music bars.

Like its neighbors, the pizza place occupies a vintage building. The dining room with seven small balconies is at the top of a narrow, steep staircase.

Stop by before or after the bar - the place is open late into the night - and feast on some of the salty pizzas.

Parma, quatro queijos (four-cheese), shrimp with catupiry are some of the flavors. If you crave dessert, the beautiful and creamy Nutella pizza, served with vanilla ice cream, could well be one of the most irresistible sights and scents in Lapa.

The menu doesn't clash at all with Carioca da Gema the bar, where you'll find from sandwiches to Rio classics like Filé à Oswaldo Aranha, but no pizzas.

At the pizzeria, there's no live music.
