How to Create Custom Note Cards

    • 1). Open your word processor. Microsoft Word or OpenOffice Writer are good choices. Both of these word processors have flexible note card templates and work primarily the same way, allowing you to easily create customized note cards with no desktop design experience.

    • 2). Go to the "File" menu and choose "New." Select the "Template" option and browse for the category that contains the note card templates. Word has a "Notecard" category. Browse the note card templates and choose the template that most closely resembles the note card you want to create. Click the template to open it in your word processor.

    • 3). Modify the note card to fit your needs. You can keep the template design if it looks good to you. If not, select the elements you want to delete by clicking on them and pressing the delete key on you keyboard. Edit the front of the note card on the left side of the template and the back side on the right side of your template. You can insert a custom graphic or any image you like by going to the "Insert" menu and selecting the "Picture" option. Once the picture is inserted, select it and drag the edges to size it to fit your note card.

    • 4). Modify the text on your card by first typing any text you want to appear on your note card. Once you have the text in place, select the text and go to your font menu to choose the font style and color. Save your finished note card and print your note cards on note card template paper you can purchase from an office supply store. The template you use will include the note card size to help you choose the right printer paper.
