Brands may differ from country to country.
It is used to relieve symptoms of inflammation, swelling and itchiness due to hemorrhoid formation.
Note that this medication is intended only for rectal use.
To administer a suppository, unwrap the covering and insert the bullet-like medicine gently into the rectum.
Let the patient lie on the left side bending the right knee.
This is known as the left sims' position.
Use gloves when inserting the suppository.
Insert the suppository just to the side first in the rectum using your fingers.
Never push up too high.
If you have difficulty inserting the suppository due to refrigeration, you can dip the tip of the medication with water prior to insertion.
Never attempt to insert a suppository if the hemorrhoids are bleeding or irritated.
If symptoms persist within 7 days of consistent use, call your doctor.
Before using this medication, make sure to inform your doctor if you have bleeding hemorrhoids, severe pain upon insertion, previously known allergies to the content of the medicine and pregnant or planning to be (some chemicals cross the placenta barrier or even go out with the milk).
If you have plans on taking any laxative agents (stool softeners), make sure to tell your physician about this as there could be drug interactions that might occur.
