Poker Board Game Room Ideas

    Furniture

    • Add a poker table to the center of your game room, especially if card games are the primary reason for the room. Use a reversible poker table that can flip over and be used for board games or a multi-use table for additional game room games. Add chairs with wheels around the table so players can scoot easily in and out of the table. For a game space meant for younger individuals, add a lower, coffee-table-sized board game table into the room. Use stools that can slide under the table when they are not in use. Consider an oversized ottoman for the table as several children can sit around it with pillows. Arrange the tables under a light source so that gamers will be able to see regardless of when they are using the room.

    Colors

    • If you are using the game room primarily for poker and casino games, use red, black, white and dark green colors for the walls, furniture and accessories. Consider painting one wall a dark green color and placing the poker table next to it to give a casino feel. Stencil in the four card suits along the walls in red and black for an additional card-based theme. For a kid-oriented board game room, decorate the walls as game boards. Paint colored spaces on the walls to reflect popular games such as "Monopoly" and "Clue." For younger kids, use bright colors such as those found in "Candy Land" to keep the kids excited when they are playing games. Shy away from white fabrics in a game room as they will attract stains from players eating greasy snacks and drinking colored beverages.

    Storage

    • Install shelving in the game room in which to store unused games and equipment. In a hybrid room, install shelves near the children's game table that are meant for their games while another shelf is designated for poker and grown-up games. Consider using stools that double as storage or having cubed shelving with baskets to disguise the games when they are not being used. If the room is being used for poker tournaments, purchase a small safe for the shelf which can be used to store money during games in which chips are being used. A hollowed bench along a wall can serve as storage for extra game equipment, such as darts for a dart board.

    Accessories

    • Frame five playing cards that make up a Royal Flush and mount them on the wall as a piece of artwork. In a board game room, you can frame Monopoly money or the tops of retro board game boxes to signify the purpose of the room. Connect several poker chips side by side with glue to create coasters for drinks. Use the same overhead lighting you see in pool halls or neon signs around the room. Keep a mini refrigerator in the game room to store drinks and a wall-mounted television so kids and grownups alike can keep track of their favorites shows and sports while they are playing games in the room.
