Centerpiece Ideas for Weddings

    Ice

    • One popular way to wow guests is to provide an ice display for a centerpiece. The centerpiece can serve multiple purposes such as providing decoration, keeping food or drinks cool and adding light. Large centerpieces can be displayed near the food or serving area and display ice carvings of the bride and grooms wedding vows or wedding date. Small ice sculptures can be placed at each table and include a low energy LED light inside to display carvings made into flowers, hearts or the couples initials. The ice can also be carved into vases that can hold battery operated tea lights that resemble candles. They can also hold fresh flowers such as calla lilies or roses. Some centerpieces can serve as ice bowls to hold cold foods or drinks. The room has to be cool and this type of centerpiece idea is recommended in the winter or during cooler months.

    Candles

    • Candles are popular design elements at weddings. Candles can also be implemented into centerpieces that signify tranquility and romance---key elements at most wedding receptions or parties. Something as simple as a cluster of votive or taper candles offer romantic ambiance for guests to enjoy their meals and drinks. The look can be played up with a large pillar candle or glass bowl full of floating candles in colored water. Flower petals scattered below the candles add scent and a personal touch. Mirrors add depth to a table when placed underneath a group of candles. The light actually reflects from the mirror, adding rays of light throughout the table area and the entire room. The candle centerpieces should be fragrance free---especially if food is being served.

    Flowers

    • Wedding centerpieces almost always involve some type of flower arrangement. Often times the main flower theme of the wedding is carried out through the wedding reception. Flowers can take up the entire center of the table or a small area in combination with other items such as small vases of lighted floating disks or strings of Christmas or LED lights. Some centerpieces are big and bold with 12 to 15 inch tall stem vases holding bouquets of Hydrangeas or Peonies. Flower centerpieces that involve bright colored flowers such as Gerbera Daisies, Birds of Paradise or Tulips are always in style and make a bold statement when bunched into elegant crystal vases.
