How to Build a Ballista

MATERIALS NEEDED IN CONSTRUCTING A BALLISTA

The materials needed are twelve inches high and twelve inches wide wooden block, twenty-four inches long block for the base, three by three by twelve wooden block, two by two by twenty-four block, a pair of two by one-fourth by twelve blocks of woods, a pair of two inches wooden cubes, one length of wood (same size as a pencil), a pair of wooden cylinders (two inches diameters and two inches long), a pair of two inches long poles made of metal, two hoop hooks, two washers, a piece of nylon, nails and thin rope.

TOOLS

You only need a hammer for this project.

STEPS IN CREATING A BALLISTA

Carefully place the base on your working area. Install the three inches wooden block to the twelve inches edge of the ballista base. Connect the pair of blocks together with nails. Place the wood so that it is with the three inches wood on the lower part. Connect the two inches by 24 inches wood to the middle of the base. Install the two by twelve wood to the twenty-four inches wood so that it forms a letter T.

Install a pair of cubes between the bar of the T-shape wooden pieces. It should be connected about 3 from the intersection of the pair of wood. Install the remaining two by twelve wood above these wooden cubes. Place a nail through this set, the blocks and the initial two by twelve piece.

Install a pair of cylinders on both sides of the horizontal portion of the T. Place a washer in each side of the T, about three inches from both ends. Use nails to firmly secure them.

Place a hoop hook between your cube and cylinder in the inner portion of the T bar. Place the rope in each hoop hook and twist them. When you twisted it halfway, place the pencil-size wood into the set-up and make sure that rope is tied securely to it.

Add the washer. Place the metal pole horizontally above the washer. Secure them in place by tying the ropes. Remove the excess ends. Tie each side of the nylon to the pencil-size wood. You can now test if your project works.

ADDITIONAL TIPS

You can use different types of projectiles to see which has the best result. Use your masterpiece in an area that has no humans or wildlife nearby. You should only use this in an open field.
