How to Remove Hair at Home

    • 1). Shave off unwanted hair with a razor or shaver. You can use a shaver or razor on virtually any part of your body. They even make small disposable razors for trimming eyebrows and bikini lines. The one negative with shaving is it can cause skin irritation and it needs to be done rather frequently. To reduce irritation, shave with a lotion or cream that is unscented and dye-free.

    • 2). Wax off unwanted hair with a home waxing kit. Waxing hair is highly desirable because the results of the hair removal tend to last a little bit longer. When selecting a home waxing kit, choose one that uses actual warm wax for best results. Waxing can be painful and it can cause skin irritation. To reduce irritation, apply lotion to the treated area immediately after you wax.

    • 3). Wipe away hair with depilatory cream. Products like Nair can be smoothed on an area and wiped away to remove hair from the skin. However, depilatory cream cannot be used on every area of the body. For instance, most cannot be used near the eyes or mouth. They also smell bad most of the time and in many cases do not remove all the hair from an area.

    • 4). Buff away hair with friction. Many companies sell hair removal mitts that use a rough surface somewhat like sandpaper to exfoliate the hair away from the skin. However, this method may cause skin irritation for some people. It is best to moisturize immediately following hair removal with this method.
