How to Prepare a Spiral-Cut Ham
- 1). Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. The directions on the label of your spiral sliced ham may specify a slightly lower temperature; if so follow the directions given.
- 2). Remove the spiral sliced ham from its wrappings. Pull the small plastic disc (inserted on top of the ham) out of the ham. Discard disc and wrappings.
- 3). Add a thin layer of water to the bottom of the roasting pan until the bottom of the pan is submerged. The amount of water needed depends upon the size of the roasting pan used; however, 1/2 cup to 1 cup of water is generally sufficient.
- 4). Place the rack atop the roasting pan.
- 5). Wrap the spiral sliced ham in aluminum foil completely, keeping the meat side face down.
- 6). Place the foil-wrapped ham on the baking rack, with the meat side still facing down.
- 7). Place the roasting pan holding the ham into the oven, which should now be fully preheated. If the oven is not yet preheated, wait until it has fully preheated before placing the ham in the oven.
- 8). Warm the ham for 10 to 12 minutes per pound of ham weight. Check the ham after it has warmed for 10 minutes per pound, and if it is not warmed through, place it back in the oven for another two minutes per pound.
