Fabulous Family Shots

You must be familiar with family portraits hanging on the main room of a house.
For many, family portraits have various functions.
Some use them to address the members of the family who are living in the house, others use them as a symbol of welcome to their guests.
Family portraits are also used to bring a different atmosphere to the room, especially when they are combined with special lighting effects to give them an elegant or dramatic look.
Here are some simple steps to creating fabulous family photographs.
1.
First of all, you have to consider the number of members who are in for the family photograph session.
You can coordinate all your family members to wear the same color, or similar colors, at least.
This uniformity will highlight the solidity of your family.
It is advisable not to wear clothes with lots of motifs or patterns, so as not to let someone stand out more than the rest of the family.
This will only create a shift of attention to that respective person, instead of the whole family unit.
2.
A tripod will be of great help, especially when you are making your own family portraits and do not have anyone to help take the pictures for you.
Before taking pictures, you should set the tripod at a distance where the camera can capture all of your family members.
You should also adjust the appropriate height and angle of the tripod head in order to the perfect photographs.
Set the camera on self-timer mode to give you time to join your family and be a part of the family portraits.
3.
Arrange the position for each family member.
You can arrange the older members to sit in the middle, and the rest to stand on the sides or behind them.
Make sure that no one is covered by someone else.
4.
Bear in mind that natural poses are always the best.
For some people, posing naturally for a photograph is hard to do.
When directing your family members, it is advisable that you do not give the usual posing directions like 'look up'.
This would only make some family members uncomfortable and stiff.
Instead, create a more comfortable atmosphere and distract their thoughts by rephrasing your directions like 'look, there is a big star in the sky'.
You will be amazed to see that the power of imagination can help your family members to pose more naturally.
Most important of all, make sure that all family members keep their backs straight and chins up to show how proud they are of the family.
