How to Put Nickel Spots on Leather

- 1). Set a leather-pounding board onto your workspace to protect its surface. Lightly mark on the leather with a felt-tipped pen where you want to attach the nickel spots.
- 2). Hold one side of the leather and place the blades of the handheld spot tool over the marks. Press down to push the blades through the leather and cut slits into it.
- 3). Insert the prongs of the nickel spot through the slits, with the top of the spot facing up on the right or finished side of the leather and the prongs on the bottom.
- 4). Bend the prongs in toward each other by pressing them down with a flat-blade screwdriver.
- 5). Turn the leather over so the top of the spot is facing up. Place the leather punch over the nickel spot and hit it with a mallet to flatten the tines and press them into the leather.
