How to Make an Internet Antenna
- 1). Place a sheet of newspaper on a table to protect its surface from being scratched. Stand the empty coffee can on the newspaper. Measure 3 inches up from the bottom of the can. Drill a hole through the side of the can at the three inch mark with the portable drill.
- 2). Heat up the soldering iron for three minutes. Apply a drop of solder to an end of the copper wire. Let the solder cool for a minute.
- 3). Insert the end of the copper wire that has the solder on it into the center hole in the front of the N adapter. Place the tip of the soldering iron against the side of the copper wire for 10 seconds before removing it. Let the solder at the end of the copper wire that is now adhered inside of the N adapter's hole cool for a minute.
- 4). Push the free end of the copper wire through the hole in the can until the N adapter is flush with the sides. Apply solder to each side of the N adapter to adhere it to the can. Let the solder cool for two minutes.
- 5). Plug the Pigtail N cable's N adapter plug into the connection on the N adapter.
- 6). Bring the Internet antenna you have made over to the device that is using the Wi-Fi card, for example, a laptop. Remove the antenna plug from the Wi-Fi card.
- 7). Plug the free end of the Pigtail N cable into the Wi-Fi card. Insert the Wi-Fi card into the wireless slot on the side of the laptop. Rotate the open end of the can in the direction of the Wi-Fi transmitter.
