The list of what causes insomnia are endless.
If you are one of the millions of people who are suffering from insomnia it would be best for you to know what factors or situation can trigger this sleep disorder.
According to studies anxiety from work, school, family matters is one of the biggest contributor of insomnia, aside from that the medications you are taking, caffeine intake, alcohol, nicotine, change in environment, change in sleep pattern and poor sleeping habits all contribute to a person's difficulty in falling asleep.
Yes, even poor sleeping habits can lead to insomnia but you can still curb it in order to have a good night's sleep.
Here are before-bedtime rituals you can practice to help you condition your body and brain to go to sleep.
1.
Have a nightly shower or better yet a relaxing bath.
If you have a few scented candles light it up, put in a few drops of lavender oil in your bubble bath, play a soft music and try to relax your mind and body while taking a warm bath.
When you are in the bath try to imagine a big box and placing all of your worries in that big box.
Then STOP thinking about work, problems and worrying about anything.
Relax, relax, relax.
That is all you need.
2.
Slip into something comfortable.
You can try a pine cone hill pajama or perhaps wear something light and soft like a silk night gown.
3.
Get a good massage.
A good massage can actually relax the tired muscles in your body.
Some people even fall asleep while they are being massage.
4.
Prepare a light snack before going to bed.
A glass of warm milk and a plate of cookies would make your tummy light and easy.
5.
Make sure that your room is clean as well as the bedding.
Avoid watching television an hour before you go to sleep.
You can choose a good book and read to help you go to sleep.
The secrets of falling asleep is to feel relaxed by leaving your problems and anxieties outside your home, taking a light snack before bedtime, taking a warm bath and slipping into something light and comfortable like a pajama or a nightgown.
